RE: Redhound Basketball

Good luck Tony and the Redhound Basketball team. This looks like an all around good year for all the Redhound teams!

The Hounds are looking good already in pre season practice. The kids are all physically bigger stronger and faster than last year. The fans will see a stark increase in speed and muscle. The coaches have really helped improve the kids' level of play over the past few weeks.

What are the dates of the Cumberland Falls Invitational Tournament and what teams will be playing this year? It should be a great tournament this year.

Meet the Redhounds...Looks like the overall talent level has risen since last year. Some players have grown considerable. It will be nice to see Josh Crawford back in action soon too. Looks like we have a large freshman/jv squad too.

I noticed that the JV team has several big/tall players...does any of those kids play football? I cant remember seeing any kids that looked as tall on the football team as some did at meet the redhounds function. We may be missing some key ingredients on the football team that could put the program back to the good ol days.

Corbin plays Middlesboro tonite in the pan-o-rama I believe, at Corbin at 7:30.

I sure am glad it's basketball season.

Corbin has some very good talent this year. I think we'll do very well by the time March rolls around.

Good Luck Redhounds

Sorry for the mistake, Corbin played Johnson Central last nignt. They looked really good, winning by 24 or so. They started out a little sluggish, as it was first game jitters, but came on strong the rest of the game.

The JV team was very impressive. We've got some real talent coming up with our freshman and sophomores. There's some really quick guards, and they're learning fast.

I think this will be a fun year for all redhound fans.

Hounds beat M'boro last night. One really bad referee, one bad referee and one average referee made the game very entertaining if... you werent a fan, player, or coach who had to suffer thru it. At least the refs were consistently bad on both ends of the floor. M'boro has a good starting team but the Hounds have a deeper bench and better coaching. With Crawford, the Hounds win that game by 20+ points. There will be several games like that one until Crawford is back to 100%. If we lose a few games now, its not the end of the world. We're playing for March...not December so Hounds fans, dont worry about a slip up here or there. The Hounds will be just fine when it counts at the end of the season.

They have kids who have 2 different birth certificates. Remember Ritchie Farmer and how old he looked. I think they have same kind of kids. They are driving to game and then going to depot for drinks.

The Redhounds did a fine job at South Laurel. Five different players scored in double figures for a really unselfish game. When Josh Crawford gets back in the lineup the Redhounds will even have great depth. Keep it up Redhounds!

The Corbin victory last night over Madison Central was one of the Redhound's greatest all time victories. Both teams gave all they had in a battle that went into overtime. Johnson showed again why he is an outstanding all around player. He is known for his great shooting touch but he is also tough on defense and rebounding. Isaac Wilson gave everything he had as our leader and point guard. Manns was tough against two tough big men for Central, Smith hit a big three near the end, Hendrickson gave us a big lift off the bench, Barley always gives 100%, and Cashen showed why he is one of the Redhound's tuly great three sport athletes. Crawford also gives a tremendeous effort and Tony and our coaching staff had a very good game plan using the back door play very effectively. Our pressing defense gave Central problems.

At the start of the game it looked like Madison Central would blow us out of the game early. But after taking the best they could give us Tony got our team settled down and it turned into a terrific performance for both teams, but especially for the Redhounds.

The Redhounds had some trouble at the free throw line but it was mostly the result of being leg weary. Heart, will power, the never give up spirit, teamwork, clutch shooting, defensive effort, blocking out well on the board, and sound coaching made this a great victory.

I also want to give some praise to the players on the bench who did not play. They are another good reason for our success. Every day in practice they give our starters a real battle. Many of them will be our stars of the next several years. They are important part of our team's success.

If you have not been attending the Redhound games you are missing out on a special team with some special players. And just think, the best player in the Region, Josh Crawford has not played yet because he is recuperating from surgery. We will long remember the victory Friday Night. It is a new highlight in the Redhound History Book. Let's give these young men our full support.

Another great game by the Hounds last night. They started out a little slow, but they came on and dominated.

Tonight, the championship game is at N. Laurel.

SHould be a good one.

Come out and support the Redhounds.

The Hounds just fell a little short tonight, but it was another great effort by both teams. It went right down to the wire and we can all be proud of our team and coaches.

These players are special. They have hung together when their top player and leader has been out with an injury. I know we all look forward to Josh Crawford getting back into action. They have great chemistry and have come along way this season without having their star and leader.

Let's support the Cumberland Falls Invitational coming up after Christmas. Merry Christmas to all.

The way I see this year's Redhound Basketball team.

The games with Madison Central and Boone County were nail biters down to the final second.

These are two very good teams and likely to end up in the State Tournament in March. There were some weak teams in the tournament. Somerset came into the tournament with a very good record. They played us a tough game in the first half but we took control in the 3rd Quarter. Some people believe Somerset will win their Region. Madison Central is an excellent team. North Laurel has a top performer but he does not have a lot of help yet. South Laurel killed them last night in one of the consolation games.

Boone County has a balanced. smart, and well coached team. They pass the ball well. We will hear more about them as the season progresses. EKU is very interested in one of their players.

Corbin's players gave it all they had. Barley and Smith are both enjoyable to watch. They made some good plays lin the Tournament and of course, Isaac Wilson is a terrific point guard. He can do it all. Crawford, our other Junior point guard played very well. He gives us good back up for Wilson, and can play number 2 when we need help against a press. Manns, Hendrickson, and Cashen give us a real boost. Manns is becoming a force inside. Hendrickson is a smooth and good athlete. Cashen is very valuable even if he does not score much because he is a menace to our opponents on defense. Rogers plays well when he is in the game. We have other reserves that will gain experience this season as they prepare to play bigger roles in the future.

And that leaves Madison Johnson. He has great talent. His shooting touch is outstanding. I believe he was leg weary the last two games Corbin played. Some people believe just because players are young they can play a zillion games in a short period. When you legs get weary it effects your shooting. He has a smooth release that reminds me of former Redhound great Frank Selvy. He gives great effort on offense and defense. Tired or not, these Redhounds gave it all. We can be proud of them. If Johnson continues playing without serious injury he will be a player we will long remember.

Josh Crawford is another one of those high school players that we will long remember. And this is a team that will be one of our all time favorites.

And last, our coaches are doing a great job. Tony has two very good assistants and they have great chemistry with this team. Go Hounds!

Nice summary Bob Sr.

Well written and very good, we have a great team on the hardwood this year and it's going to be a super year.

The last guy who posted is another one who never played a down, never swung a bat, never shot a ball. Just another cry baby who is trying to be the President Of Something but just can't accept the fact that some of us built the Pride & Tradition that is Redhound Sports, while the others watched from the stands.

MMMMM, Guess that makes the last poster the real Athletic Supporter.

Why does the Varsity Club schedule out of town teams for the Christmas Tournament? If they scheduled local teams to play, the attendance would be better.

Playing out of town teams makes us better. We see different play than what the team gets locally. Also all the local teams have their own tournaments so its tough to get them on the schedule.
