Those cowards that eliminated the sunday sales, if still on the commission, will hopefully be voted off next time.
You are full of crap and maybe booze. The bar bunch tried that last election. Several bar people ran. They had their butts whipped bad. It was a total embarassment for them. The only one at city hall that was there when the law was passed in 2003 is now the mayor pro-tem since he got the most votes in the last election. He is the commissioner that is trashed on this board quite a lot. That tells you something about this message board. The drinkers did not hurt him in the 2006 election and I doubt that they will hurt him in the next election if he chooses to run.
A person may be full of crap and booze but you are full of BS. The commissioner you are defending does not want people to rock the boat or question anything. He wants to eliminate any voice of opposition. I don't think he wants anymore people to come into the city. He is against the Downtown program. He doesn't have the foggiest idea about the importance of Economic Development. With his attitude and stubborness he will keep people from wanting to do business in Corbin if they don't live in Corbin. The other day there was a group of business people together and they discovered that none of them were born in Corbin. And they said we feel like outsiders because we are treated differently. We are not let into the system. "Oh, you are not from Corbin", is a comment frequently made when they are introduced. We better realize this is a big world and if we want to compete and grow we better welcome others to come to our area. We better open our eyes and be willing to change.

I think you must misunderstand this commissioner. He is conservative, checks out everything and makes sound decisions.

You must just have an axe to grind. Get over it.
Why don't you run against him.
I got rid of my axe when I quit working at the sawmill. I don't want to run against him. I just want him to be more open to new ideas. And to quit making not living in Corbin such a big deal. If the City of Corbin would put a good presentation together to show the advantages of being annexed some people would want to come in. But it doesn't look like they really want some of us in the county to move in.
If anyone has an ax to grind, so be it. That's why people run against them. When you play on the fears of the older folks, telling them what evils and pitfalls lurk with alcohol in our town, you almost scare them into voting for you. Conservative, no, it's more like, "taking a nap". His first answer is always "no", until he sees what others think. Kind of like the little fat mayor on the Andy Griffith show, except this guy is a commissioner.

You don't really mean new ideas. You mean YOUR ideas. The city already has advantages. That is why the Voters of Corbin already live in the city. Why don't you move into the city and take part. You could even Vote instead of just trying to run the city from the internet. I support the commissioner that you are always trying to bash as do the majority of the voters of Corbin.

I remember him, Mayor Pike, played by Dick Elliott back in 1961. Mayor Pike and the citizens of Mayberry were shocked to discover that the last living descendant of Revolutionary War hero, Nathan Tibbs, was Mayberry's town drunk, Otis Campbell. I'll bet Otis would be for Sunday Sales and so would Rafe Hollister.
Since we don't have sunday sales, we need to enact an "Eating after church tax" on the local restaurants. That way, the city can get revenue from all those that go out to eat after church, and the restaurants can't serve alcohol on sunday because of them.
It could be the same amount of tax that is on alcohol the other 6 days of the week.
