Calm down.

I think the poster was just using metaphor.

At my age, you call it a metaphor, and I'll call it a miracle. (just kidding)

Everyone in town knows Swindler and the Terrells are in bed together. why don't you get the tapes and make up your own mind.

Wow. I haven't had a compliment like that in many years. Thanks.

Mr Terrell remember your blood pressure, too much VIAGRA will kill you!

I agree, too much would probably kill me, and as my uncle Festus has said many times, and not enough will make you wish you were dead.( Just kidding)

Well, lets see.

Swindler has nothing to gain or lose from her reporting. She is employed by her company, who transferred her here to do a job. To put out the paper. She doesn't know Don, or his cronies at Economic Development or City Hall, so she has no dog in the fight. Her job is not affected by anything anyone here does, so shes economically neutral. She's gained the respect of much of the communtiy from her involvement in various local community activities, and fair and unbiased reporting.

Estep, has everything to lose from his remarks, as the people he has been around all his life, are now questioning his ethics as a committee chairman, and a newspaper publisher. His sense of fair play is now in question.

So, now the tapes come out.

No one has heard them, but him.

SO, who would I believe,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the person who has nothing to gain or lose.

If you care enough to type all this, why don't you go get the tapes and remove all doubt. Or are you too afraid of Don?

This reminds me of the Watergate tapes. I wonder if any part of the tapes have been erased? Maybe Woodward and Bernstien could write a book about this? The book could be made into a movie called, "THIS IS MY SHOW, GET OUT OF HERE"

Hey I read in the Times story about the tourism audit that motel taxes were down. does this mean that the marketing done for them was ineffective? if so, perhaps its good they are trying something new.

Hey, you're right, the train project was scrapped, no new projects were approved to bring in tourists, the banner of the month program, the nibroc funding... You're right, Estep should step down and let them go in a new direction.

Maybe good ol Don could put the tapes on this site, so we could all listen.

Oh, and to the 5 up poster, it's not being afraid of Don, it's knowing what he's done in the past to people that disagree with him.

Like the David O Smith letters.  They just disappeared.

David O. opened more eyes with his letters in both papers than anything they have ever reported.

So, your saying all it takes is a few plastic trains and some banners to get tourists to stay here overnight? Good thing they aren't wasting taxpayer money on an overpriced marketing guy anymore then.

Unless I missed something, Ol Don only brought up the issue of the internet site, they never voted to do anything yet, that should come up at the next meetings.

I wonder if Ol Don will put that particular item on the next agenda, or will he leave it off convinently, and no one will expect it, and then he'll bring it up and see how many votes he can coerce out of the members.

Any takers on this.

I bet he puts out the agenda for the meeting right before he calls the meeting to order.

That'll be a good article for his ace reporter, Trent Knuckles. Trent could poll the tourism members, and see when they got their agenda.  Then, we'll know for sure how he operates.

How about it "powers that be", any takers on this.

Amazing, as I write this post, it will be the 1392 time this thread has been viewed, and the 92nd post for it. It started 13 days ago, and it's averaged, as of today, 107 views per day.

Not tell me people aren't interested in what goes on with our community boards.

You couldn't buy this type of advertising.

No matter how you feel on this matter, which side you take, it's amazing that many people have viewed this one thread.

Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Speech, is alive and well in Corbin Kentucky, and the corbinkentucky.us web site.

Now if we could only convince the Terrells to stop banning IP addresses from posters that don't agree with their point of view.

Here is what the message says:

Your IP has been banned by the administrator of this forum. You are not permited to comment.

The Last Poster can always give Ole Don a Call and write a letter to the Editor, right, since this site is not fair to him or her then call up Ole Butch Cassidy Estep himself and let him state your case?

The Terrells have not banned anything, except the fact that you and your gang can't hide anymore.

Mr. Estep has helped this message board become the communications resource of the decade in the Tri-County area with his scathing criticism and drive to eliminate it.

If anyone gets Bruce, Don, and Marlon mad at them that person must be doing many things right. I would respect highly anyone the three of them don't like.

The gang can't hide anymore. Ole Butch Cassidy Estep is no longer the judge and jury for all of us.

Interestingly, only two messages have been deleted or modified in the past month, pertaining to other people - the owners of Sheas/Seasons, and a comment about someone being handicapped or in a wheelchair. After a couple of discussions about the posts, we decided to delete or modify the posts and banned the block of IP addresses.

Regarding IP addresses, this poster claims we've banned "their" IP address. Its the "their" part that is not correct.

This person is using what is called the TOR Network or an open proxy, which basically uses servers donated by volunteers around the world, allowing them to sit at their home or office and logon to an open proxy network that connects or bounces them through several routers throughout the world on the TOR network. Viewed from the destination, the traffic appears to originate at the TOR exit router.

The two posts mentioned above that were deleted/modified were posted using the TOR network, as have been dozens of posts the past week.

The above message complaining "Now if we could only convince the Terrells to stop banning IP addresses from posters that don't agree with their point of view " shows to be from Rogers Cable Communications in Toronto, Canada.

The post about how great the Lunch and Lecture series was just the day before and that also included the sandwich comment indicated it came from Amsterdam - not Amsterdam, KY, but The Netherlands. Other posts from this person/persons have supposedly come from IPs in Germany, Japan, Sweden, Marina Del Rey, CA, Dallas, TX and numerous other false locations.

Many websites ban TOR network users, such as the online encyclopedia Wikipedia. Here is one of the IP addresses that has posted on here in the past several days, and as you can see, it was banned by Wikipedia -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:216.9.84.146.

We have now blocked some of the TOR network IP's, and will continue to block them in the future.

Also, for any of you that have been talked into using the TOR Network or an open proxy, you might want to read the following article from Wired Magazine. You might think you are "Ultimately Anonymous", but you, your network and computers are not necessarily secure.

You didn't even read the explanation of the Administrator. If you had read it you would have more sense than to have posted the above message. You are the one who is running scared. Go back and read what he said. Use your brain. Those of us who are not interested in trickery and using all kinds of devious tactics have no trouble even if we are critical of the Terrells. If you read what he posted you should understand why he did it.  There are just a couple of you who put all the garbage attacks on this message board and the huge number of people using the board understand your mission is to destroy this website.
We can see right through your scheme.

Good point.

You know, it would be a lot simpler if Estep and Carpenter went ahead and logged on and said their piece.

I can't wait till the next tourism meeting.  I got Don not sending out an agenda until about 2 minutes before the meeting, and then he'll put the web site service up to a vote the first thing.  He has to have a second, and then a vote.  Then we'll know who is talking out of the side of their mouths.

This next meeting will not only be a big issue for Estep, but also for the committee members. Will they vote their heart, or vote their fear.  They know Estep is off the deep end, and he's using this as a grudge match and he thinks it's his own personal toy.  Will they be afraid of Don's magic pen in his editorial section, blasting them for not backing him.

If they don't go along with him, will he step down as he'll know he's by himself?

Will Don's ballgame buddy Carpenter try to help him sway the committees votes?

If Carpenter loses Estep, will he have to account for the nibroc money then?

Yep, this next meeting will be a big one.

"I'm running the show here!" Estep says to Corbin citizens.

I agree this next meeting is a big one. Everyone will be watching this next meeting, because it will really tell the tale where everyone stands.

I read Don Estep's editorial this week regarding Mayor McBurney's scorecard for beautification of our area. I think Mayor McBurney has great intentions to help our community. I really do. Don Estep credited all positive projects to Mayor McBurney and the city commission, which is a positive thing. However, I just noticed that not once did he mention Sharae Myers, the Main Street Manager, in any of our progress or future plans for progress. What is his hangup with Sharae? I don't get it. If we have them all working together, our town will benefit.

He's trying to align himself with the mayor and the commission right now, because he knows he needs support.

Now I'll wait for my posting "stalker" to tell me I don't have a clue, I'm hysterical, and ask again who are the "powers that be"???

I agree, this will be a very interesting meeting....

Good point WKUGirl. The publisher won't say anything good about Sharea. Suddenly he brags on the Mayor because the publisher knows he has alienated nearly all the people in the area. He and the head of the Chamber are the two people behind all this disunity because they want control. He now knows it has backfired and he wants to finally get on the good side of the Mayor and the Commissioners.  This next Tourism meeting will let us know if they are going to throw away a very professional website for an inferiior one. The targets of the Publisher and the head of the Chamber are Sharea, Samantha, and Bob Jr.

I know some people who plan to attend this meeting.

The last Tourism meeting ended with the words, "This is my show, get out of here".  I believe Don should apologize to the people of Corbin for the way he handled that meeting. And it is apparent he is after the three persons mentioned in the above post. Power, Power, Power, makes even some good people do bad things! I believe we would forgive him if he apologized and if he really started using his talent for the community and not for his few cronies.

Tell us what she has done so far for down town.  I think I am missing something.  Seems the mayor has done all the beautification.  The history lesson?  What really have we accomplished so far down town?

It is not about what Sharae has done so far. You are missing something. The point. She is new to the job and trying to establish support for a program. Just like a post by Suzy Razmus said, "Rome was not built in a day". We don't expect that she is going to come in and instantly have a great, bustling, beautiful down town. But, she has to have support for the program to work. The program builds on itself, and the amount of support shown by the local people is critical for the program's success. And that will include support from the chairs of all of these committes, the mayor, and the city commission. We can be certain of one thing, if we don't support the program, we will be stuck with what we have. A withering down town, that has been going downhill consistently for the last two to three decades at least. Obviously what we have been doing for the last several years isn't working.

And I want to make it clear that I am not criticizing our mayor. I think he has very good ideas about beautification, and will stand behind things that are good for our community. Just one look at his house shows that he knows how to make things look great. But the Main Street program will only enhance and support his ideas. My point basically is that Don Estep needs to support the Main Street Manager. Corbin will benefit if the tourism commission supports her efforts.
