Activities for young people
(Preview)
I feel there is an increasing problem in our modern world when it comes to giving our children choices of fun activities. First, we take away the fields (like those many of us played in when we were young) and put up buildings, then we take away backyards and make apartment complexs, then we complain th...

Bicycle trails, something new in many towns now.
(Preview)
Cycling is becoming more and more popular in this area. I would like to see a city backed bike trail thoughout the city. Berea has one, and london is talking of one as well. Cyclists spend money when they come in also. This isn't a new thing in the country, but in this area it has taken off in the past 5 or s...

A new city pool complex,,,,,,,,,,,,,it's coming up on 50 years old.
(Preview)
It's time for a new city pool, a complex would be nice as well.
We can tear down the present one, and make parking for the rec center and football stadium. Or, tear it down and put the new one there.
A new one, the location is negotiable.
Would the restaurant tax be used for this, as far as build...

What would it take to convince YOU to annex into the city limits?????
(

(Preview)
I brought this over from another thread. It was talking about the property owners in corbin and the condition of their property, and stuff like that.
So, if you live OUTSIDE the city limits, what would it take for the city to convince you to come into the city, to annex your property into the corpora...

Old Corbin Movies
(Preview)
It would be interesting to see the old Corbin movies in the shopping center remodeled. Obviously it wouldn't compete with the new cineplex in regards to new releases, but it could be a project like the Kentucky Theatre in Lexington, which gets limited-release films and also re-plays older movies, i...

Is there a HUD rental limit in the city limits.
(Preview)
Is there a limit to the numbr of HUD rental houses allowed in the city of Corbin. I heard there was not. I also heard this was due to one of the previous city commissioners that had dozens of them in the city, and other landlords as well, that didn't want a limit to them, as they would lose their contracts....

A friend in Houston told me that if you enter "Low business costs" into a search for areas across the world who are best your website pops up first with Corbin. How were you able to do that? Our of over 3,500,000 sources in the world for the reference of "Low business costs" I don't u...

Senator Jack S. Fogbound said in 1806 " When there is open debate there is a propensity and intensity to marvelously improve. When the standard of living for the poor and middle class soars some uppity people resent these changes and seek to restrain open debate. When open debate is impaired and...

How would this fly,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
annex yourself into the city, either home, business, or vacant property, and you pay no city taxes for the first year. No city property tax, no city school tax, no insurance tax, nothing as far as the city goes.
You pay no hook up or service fees to city utilit...

Property owners who trash out the community
(Preview)
One thing I would like to see is the enforcement of city and county laws requiring people to keep their property trash free. There are home and business owners in the area who are major slobs - they need to be fined until they clean their property up.
